Daniel Thomas Alford Cotts is an accomplished attorney with more than 26 years of experience representing clients in taxation, IRS dispute resolution, and estate planning. His extensive career includes handling complex tax issues, business law matters, and financial planning cases with diligence and integrity. Daniel has earned recognition for his commitment to helping individuals and businesses resolve challenging tax concerns efficiently.

Daniel began his academic journey at Southern Utah University, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration. He later pursued a Juris Doctor from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law. His passion for taxation led him to complete an LL.M. in Taxation at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) from Southern Utah University.

Daniel gained early legal experience as a Judicial Clerk for the 5th District Court of Utah, where he spent two and a half years strengthening his understanding of judicial procedure. He later held leadership positions, including Senior Vice-President in the Generation-Skipping Taxation Department at Northern Trust Co., and served as an Editor and Author with CCH Taxation Software Company. These roles provided him with deep insight into both practical and analytical aspects of taxation law.

Daniel’s professional affiliations include membership in the State Bar of Texas and admission to the U.S. Tax Court, demonstrating his active involvement in federal and state tax matters. In recognition of his professional excellence, he received the CityOf.com Premier Service Award – 2024. This honor highlights his ongoing dedication to delivering trusted legal services to clients across Texas.
