About
Daniel L. Gray is a founding partner at Cooper Ginsberg Gray, PLLC, in Fairfax, Virginia. He has represented Northern Virginia family law clients for more than 29 years and handles divorce, property division, custody, child support, spousal support, and marital agreements. His cases include disputes over closely held businesses and complex financial interests. He seeks negotiated resolutions when possible while representing clients in court when contested issues require a judicial decision.
Daniel earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia in 1993 and a Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law in 1996. After completing law school, he clerked for a Fairfax County Circuit Court judge. His education and judicial clerkship developed a foundation in legal analysis and court procedure that supports his handling of complicated family law cases involving property, income, and children’s interests.
Daniel has litigated issues involving complex asset and debt distribution, income calculations for support, and financial interests in privately held companies. He frequently prepares prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and appears in courts throughout Northern Virginia. He helped establish his current firm in November 2004. Beyond case representation, he has worked on family law legislation through the Virginia Family Law Coalition and served on the Virginia Child Support Guidelines Review Panel from 2020 to 2023.
Daniel L. Gray has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2010 and named Washington, D.C., Family Law Lawyer of the Year in 2018, 2024, and 2026. He received the Virginia State Bar Family Law Service Award in 2022 and has served in leadership roles with the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the Virginia Bar Association. His work combines courtroom representation, professional education, and efforts to improve family law practice across Virginia.
