About
Lily Saffer is an associate attorney with Maddox & Gerock, P.C., serving Virginia clients through a part-time remote practice. Her current remote role provides non-litigation family law services involving divorce, custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, and marital agreements. She also assists with estate planning, including wills, advance medical directives, durable powers of attorney, and simple trusts. Her work helps clients address legal decisions that often arise during marriage, separation, or changes in family circumstances.
Lily graduated cum laude from Wellesley College in 2010 before earning her J.D. from William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law in 2013. At William & Mary, she was a Graduate Research Fellow, worked with the Children’s Advocacy Law Society, assisted family law professor James Dwyer with research, and interned with legal aid organizations. Her academic work emphasized the legal needs of children and families.
Lily clerked for Fairfax County Circuit Court judges Dennis J. Smith and Penney S. Azcarate after law school. Before joining her current firm in 2020, she practiced family law and handled contract disputes, landlord-tenant cases, and consumer protection litigation. She has appeared in Virginia Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts, General District Courts, Circuit Courts, and the Court of Appeals. That varied background informs her understanding of disputes intersecting with family law.
Lily Saffer received the Fairfax Bar Association’s Pro Bono Champion Award in 2022 and the Rotary Club of Fairfax’s Service Above Self Award in 2023. She was selected for the Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in family law beginning in 2019. Her community involvement has included leadership with the Fairfax Law Foundation and Rotary Club. She continues to help clients navigate family transitions and prepare essential planning documents.
