Daniel J. Holmander is a registered U.S. patent attorney and Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Group at Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C. He founded and leads the firm’s patent practice. With over 20 years of experience, he helps companies, startups, hospitals, and universities protect valuable innovation.
Dan earned his J.D. from Temple University in 2000 and his B.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst in 1994. His education supports his work across patent prosecution, trademark protection, licensing, commercialization strategy, freedom-to-operate analysis, PTAB proceedings, and complex intellectual property litigation.
Dan has been recognized by IP Stars as a Patent Star in 2025, Chambers USA, and Super Lawyers. He also holds an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell. These honors reflect his skill in patent law, trademark matters, litigation, and business-focused intellectual property counsel.
Dan works with medical devices, advanced materials, software, AI, cleantech, digital health, consumer products, robotics, battery systems, and biomedical technologies. He helps clients secure, enforce, and commercialize IP portfolios. His work includes U.S. and international patents, trademarks, licensing deals, NDAs, SaaS agreements, and research agreements.
Dan has drafted, prosecuted, and filed well over 500 patent and trademark applications. He has litigated more than 100 matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, handled anti-counterfeiting enforcement, resolved patent troll litigation, won domain name proceedings, and built patent portfolios for universities and technology companies.
Daniel J. Holmander is known for technical fluency, clear strategy, and practical legal guidance. He teaches biotechnology IP at Brown University and mentors early-stage innovators through business and legal clinics. His goal is to help clients protect ideas, build value, and move technology forward with confidence.
