Daniel J. Behles

Daniel J. Behles is a distinguished attorney with over four decades of experience in bankruptcy law and litigation. Licensed in New Mexico since 1970 and Colorado since 1986, Mr. Behles maintains a statewide practice, representing creditors, debtors, trustees, and committees in complex bankruptcy cases. His extensive knowledge and commitment to excellence have earned him national recognition in both Consumer and Business Bankruptcy law.

Mr. Behles completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and earned his J.D. from Loyola University and the University of New Mexico. His practice has been exclusively focused on bankruptcy for nearly 40 years, during which he has served as both a Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee.

He is certified as a specialist in Consumer and Business Bankruptcy Law by the New Mexico Legal Specialization Board and nationally certified by the American Board of Certification.

Throughout his career, Mr. Behles has been actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Albuquerque Bar Association, and the Albuquerque Lawyer’s Club.

He has held prominent leadership roles, including chairing the Bankruptcy Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico and serving for a decade on the Board of Bar Commissioners. His commitment to legal education is demonstrated through his lectures on bankruptcy and commercial law and his tenure teaching business law at the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management.
