Daniel H. Guttmann has built a distinguished legal career over three decades, handling thousands of cases that span serious criminal charges, complex personal injury matters, and contested family disputes. His courtroom background includes work on homicide, robbery, felony narcotics, and challenging civil litigation, reflecting a deep commitment to thorough advocacy for every client.
Daniel completed his academic path beginning with a B.A. from CUNY at Queens College in 1983, followed by a J.D. from SUNY at Buffalo School of Law in 1986. These degrees established the strong legal foundation that later supported his extensive trial practice and prepared him for roles involving complex legal issues and high-pressure courtroom environments.
Daniel entered the profession at the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, gaining experience across multiple bureaus, including Appeals, Grand Jury, Rackets and Economic Crimes, and the Criminal Court Bureau. His responsibilities expanded further when he served as Supervisor of the District Attorney’s Narcotic Plea Part and the Criminal Intake Bureau.
Daniel later transitioned into private practice, continuing work that demanded sharp litigation skills and a steady command of diverse legal matters. His background includes significant involvement in felony trials, appellate issues, landlord-tenant disputes, contested divorces, custody and support hearings, and a wide range of civil actions requiring strategic case preparation and courtroom experience.
Daniel has also held long-standing appointed roles that highlight professional trust in his judgment. Since 1990, he has served as a Nassau County District Court Arbitrator and a Suffolk County District Court Arbitrator. His service on Assigned Counsel Panels includes homicide, felony, appellate, and family court matters in Suffolk County and felony and appellate matters in Queens County.
