Dan Webb

Dan Webb is co-executive chairman of Winston & Strawn and one of the nation’s most celebrated trial attorneys. Known for his commanding courtroom presence and strategic excellence, he has tried over 100 jury cases involving high-profile white-collar, antitrust, and complex commercial litigation, earning a reputation as a formidable legal advocate.

Dan received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he was later honored with the prestigious Medal of Excellence. The university named its nationally recognized Center for Advocacy after him in recognition of his contributions to trial advocacy and legal excellence. He also holds an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Western Illinois University.

Dan’s legal career includes serving as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, where he led Operation Greylord, a landmark investigation into judicial corruption. He gained national prominence prosecuting Admiral John Poindexter in the Iran-Contra Affair and, more recently, actor Jussie Smollett as special prosecutor. His legal victories span major cases for Microsoft, Philip Morris, General Electric, and Verizon.

Notably, Dan led the legal team that delivered a historic resolution for BPI in its defamation case against ABC News—one of the largest such cases in U.S. history. He has also served as lead counsel in significant securities, antitrust, and patent litigation, defending top-tier corporations in high-stakes trials and class actions nationwide.

A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Dan has received widespread recognition, including being named “Litigator of the Week” by American Lawyer, “Lifetime Achiever” by The American Lawyer, and “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in America. He is consistently listed in Chambers USA, Legal 500, and Benchmark Litigation.
