Craig Matanle

Craig Matanle is Managing Partner at McCormick, Fitzpatrick, Kasper & Burchard, P.C. in Burlington, Vermont. His practice concentrates on Estate Planning, Estate & Trust Administration, and Probate Administration. He has more than 15 years of estate planning experience. His background includes prosecution and a judicial clerkship, alongside the planning and administration work that forms the focus of his current practice.

Craig earned a J.D. cum laude from the University of Buffalo School of Law in 1997 and a B.A. from the University of Vermont in 1992. He was an editor of the law review and served as a judicial clerk to the Vermont Supreme Court after law school. His academic work and Supreme Court clerkship preceded service as a prosecutor and his estate planning practice. He now assists clients with planning documents and the court and administrative processes involved in settling estates.

Craig served as a prosecutor in the Chittenden County State’s Attorney’s Office and later in the Criminal Division of the Vermont Attorney General’s Office before joining the firm. His current work addresses estate planning and the administration of trusts and probate estates. Planning concerns the arrangements made for assets and decision-making, while administration involves carrying out applicable documents and responsibilities after those arrangements become effective.

Craig Matanle belongs to the Vermont Bar Association and is listed as an attorney designee on the Vermont Judiciary’s Probate Division Oversight Committee. His community service has included the Greater Burlington YMCA Development Committee and volunteering at King Street Youth Center.
