Cory S. Flashner is a Member at Mintz in Boston and a white collar defense attorney with experience as a federal prosecutor, state prosecutor, and in-house compliance leader. He represents companies and individuals in government investigations, enforcement actions, and complex disputes involving securities laws, anti-money laundering requirements, financial crimes, and regulatory compliance. Cory also advises broker-dealers, financial institutions, cryptocurrency businesses, cannabis companies, investors, and startups on risk assessment and business protection.
Cory earned his J.D. from Fordham University and his B.A. from Columbia College. In law school, he served as a notes and comments editor for the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment Law Journal and as senior director of the Fordham Student Sponsored Fellowship. He also received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award. His academic background supports a practice that requires careful legal analysis, persuasive advocacy, and practical judgment.
Cory has served as first-chair counsel in more than 75 state and federal jury trials and has participated in hundreds of grand jury proceedings. As an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Massachusetts, he helped prosecute a multibillion-dollar international pyramid scheme. Earlier, he handled homicide and serious felony cases at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. His defense experience includes fraud prosecutions, SEC and DOJ investigations, FCPA matters, broker-dealer enforcement, subpoena responses, plea negotiations, and trial proceedings.
