About
Christopher Macchiaroli is a partner in Silverman Thompson’s Washington, D.C. office and an experienced trial lawyer. His practice covers criminal defense and general civil litigation in state and federal courts in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and New York. Christopher represents clients in grand jury and regulatory investigations and federal criminal prosecutions. His work draws on substantial courtroom experience and a background handling serious criminal cases, complex civil disputes, and government investigations.
Christopher earned a J.D. from Washington University School of Law and a B.A. from Boston University. During law school, he received the Judge John W. Calhoun Award for Trial Advocacy. His education and trial training support work that requires legal research, evidence analysis, witness preparation, motion practice, and persuasive courtroom presentation. This foundation complements years of experience handling criminal prosecutions, civil litigation, appellate briefing, and investigative matters in several state and federal jurisdictions.
Christopher spent more than 10 years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia and the Southern District of Florida. He prosecuted violent crimes and large multi-defendant conspiracy cases and represented the United States in civil litigation. He has tried more than 50 cases to verdict, including 28 jury trials, authored more than 30 appellate briefs, and participated in more than 100 criminal and civil evidentiary hearings across multiple federal and local courts.
Christopher Macchiaroli previously practiced at White & Case LLP in New York and Washington, D.C., representing individuals and corporations in civil and white-collar matters, including internal investigations. He is admitted in Maryland, the District of Columbia, New York, and Virginia, as well as numerous federal courts. His background as a prosecutor and private practitioner gives him perspective on investigation strategy, charging decisions, trial preparation, civil claims, and appellate issues in high-stakes criminal and litigation matters.
