Derek Jackson

Derek Jackson is an associate in Cohen & Gresser’s Washington, DC office and a member of the firm’s Antitrust & Competition and Litigation & Arbitration groups. He represents clients in significant antitrust litigation, federal and state enforcement investigations, private arbitration, and commercial disputes. His experience includes representing plaintiffs and defendants in class actions and handling matters before the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, and state attorneys general.

Derek earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a Hardy Cross Dillard Scholar and Production Editor of the Journal of Law and Politics. He earned a B.A., magna cum laude, in Philosophy and Government and Politics from the University of Maryland. His academic background supports a litigation practice centered on legal research, economic and regulatory issues, persuasive writing, and complex factual analysis.

Derek has experience at every stage of litigation, from complaint through trial. He has handled antitrust class actions, private arbitration, merger investigations, conduct investigations, and commercial cases in federal and state courts. Before joining Cohen & Gresser, he worked in an investigations and litigation practice at an international law firm. During law school, he served as a judicial intern in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.

Derek Jackson has been recognized by Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, and Lawdragon for business litigation, commercial litigation, and antitrust work. He is admitted in the District of Columbia, New York, and Virginia and before multiple federal courts. His practice combines antitrust knowledge with broad litigation experience, allowing him to help clients respond to government investigations, pursue or defend complex claims, manage discovery, prepare for trial, and resolve high-stakes commercial disputes.
