Stewart earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the San Diego Law Review. He also earned an M.B.A. from the University of San Diego School of Business Administration and a B.S. in Psychology from Santa Clara University. During law school, he gained valuable experience clerking for the U.S. Attorney’s Office and serving as a judicial extern for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
Stewart has secured landmark results in securities litigation. He served as lead counsel in In re American Realty Capital Properties, Inc. Litigation, achieving a $1.025 billion recovery, one of the largest pretrial settlements in securities law history. He also obtained a $350 million settlement in Smilovits v. First Solar, Inc., marking one of the largest recoveries in the Ninth Circuit. His litigation efforts have also contributed to multimillion-dollar settlements involving Wells Fargo’s foreclosure practices and Deutsche Bank’s securities violations.
