Charles “Tim” Laughlin

Charles “Tim” Laughlin has spent more than twenty-seven years defending the Constitutional rights of Oklahomans in criminal courts. His practice includes trial and appellate work involving misdemeanors, violent crimes, drug offenses, sex crimes, and homicide cases. He has defended hundreds of clients across Oklahoma through careful preparation, strong advocacy, and skilled courtroom representation.

Tim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1993, with a major in English and minors in History and Political Science. He later received his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1997. During his career, he developed strong litigation, research, investigative, and trial preparation skills statewide.

Tim served with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System throughout his professional career before joining Wyatt Law Office. He later became Executive Director of the agency and managed attorneys, investigators, and training programs across seventy-five Oklahoma counties. His work included capital defense, appellate advocacy, non-capital trials, and difficult homicide cases statewide.

Tim received the Champion of Public Defense award from the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2025. He also earned the Professional Advocate Award from the Oklahoma Bar Association Criminal Justice Section in 2009. Tim served as President of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association statewide from 2011 through 2013.

Tim has spoken at many criminal law seminars and continuing legal education programs throughout Oklahoma. He regularly taught lawyers about criminal procedure, evidence, trial preparation, and courtroom practice. His representative cases include successful defenses involving rape allegations, murder charges, sexual battery accusations, and negotiated resolutions in difficult criminal proceedings across Oklahoma statewide.
