Charles J. Gunther

Charles “Chuck” Gunther is a seasoned family law attorney at Chicklo Law Group, admitted to practice in both Alaska and Oregon. With nearly three decades of experience, he represents clients in all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody and visitation, property division, domestic partnerships, domestic violence, paternity, and child support. He is respected for his pragmatic, calm, and professional approach in guiding clients through sensitive legal issues.

Charles J. Gunther earned his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 1994. This legal education, paired with years of practice in both prosecution and private practice, equipped him with a broad understanding of litigation and negotiation, particularly in family law disputes. His background continues to serve as the foundation for his effective advocacy and commitment to client-centered representation.

Gunther began his legal career at the Anchorage District Attorney’s Office before transitioning into private practice, where he quickly developed expertise in divorce and family law. For over 20 years, he successfully managed his own family law firm in Anchorage, establishing a reputation as one of Alaska’s most experienced and effective family lawyers. Later, he served as Deputy Municipal Attorney for the City of Anchorage, advising multiple municipal departments on diverse legal matters.

After a rewarding career in public service, Charles J. Gunther returned to his true passion—family law. He has handled hundreds of family law cases across Alaska, successfully resolving many through strategic negotiation and settlement.
