Catherine P. McKay

Catherine P. McKay is an experienced family law attorney serving the Derry and Londonderry communities in New Hampshire. She has dedicated her career to helping individuals and families navigate complex legal matters with professionalism and compassion. Her practice emphasizes respectful dispute resolution and client-centered advocacy.

Catherine earned her undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire – Durham in 1987. She later received her Juris Doctor from New England School of Law in 1991. During law school, she worked full-time as a paralegal while attending classes at night, demonstrating dedication and a strong work ethic.

Following law school, Catherine served as an editor of the New England Law Review and worked as a Law Clerk for the New Hampshire Superior Court. In that role, she traveled throughout the state’s Superior Courts, gaining valuable insight into judicial procedures and courtroom practice.

Admitted to practice law in New Hampshire in 1991 and Maine in 1992, Catherine is also admitted to the United States District Court in New Hampshire. She is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association and actively participates in the Family Law section.

Catherine’s practice concentrates on family law, including Collaborative Practice and Mediation. She has practiced consistently in the Derry and Londonderry area since 1992. As a member of the Board of Collaborative Divorce New Hampshire, she promotes constructive solutions that reduce conflict and avoid unnecessary litigation.

Through Catherine’s extensive experience in Collaborative Divorce and Mediation, she helps clients resolve disputes without court intervention whenever possible. Her time spent in the New Hampshire Family Courts provides a valuable perspective, enabling her to guide clients toward fair and balanced outcomes tailored to their circumstances.

Catherine P. McKay is the recipient of the John Cameron award, recognizing her commitment to alternative dispute resolution and Collaborative Divorce. In addition to her legal practice, she serves as Chair and Board Member of the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, reflecting her ongoing leadership and community involvement.
