Catherine D. Sheehan

Catherine D. Sheehan is an experienced trial attorney who represents clients in family law, guardianship, and abuse and neglect litigation. She has taken hundreds of cases to verdict and judgment in jury and bench trials in both state and federal courts throughout her legal career.

Catherine earned her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2005. She also holds a B.A. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, completed in 2002. Her education prepared her for a legal career focused on litigation, public service, and advocacy for vulnerable individuals and families.

Catherine has extensive experience representing clients in abuse and neglect claims brought by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). She handled these matters both as a public defender and as in-house counsel for the largest private Guardian ad Litem organization in Illinois.

Catherine has also represented seniors and disabled persons who experienced abuse and neglect in nursing homes. Her work includes litigation involving guardianship proceedings and claims protecting vulnerable individuals who require legal advocacy and careful representation.

Catherine later expanded her practice into family law and now represents clients in divorce proceedings, parentage cases, guardianship matters, and claims involving DCFS. Her courtroom experience allows her to guide clients through complex legal matters with preparation and clear legal strategy.

Catherine has received several professional honors throughout her career. She was named a Super Lawyer Rising Star from 2010 to 2017 and recognized as a Leading Lawyer from 2016 to present. She was also named Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Association in 2012.

Catherine D. Sheehan is active in the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association, and the Kane County Bar Association. She has also served as Editor-in-Chief of Bar Briefs and as a member of professional committees within the Illinois State Bar Association.
