Briane M. House

Briane M. House is a Greenfield, Indiana partner who represents clients in liability defense, civil litigation, real estate, development and zoning, probate, and related business matters. A significant part of his practice involves defending lawyers in legal malpractice cases. He also represents corporations, businesses, elected officials, and appointed officials in disputes and legal matters that require practical judgment, litigation experience, and steady advocacy in Indiana courts.

House earned a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1982. During law school, he was a member of the intramural moot court championship team and participated in the national moot court competition. He is also an honors graduate of Wabash College and spent one semester at St. John’s College, Oxford University. His education supports strong legal writing, appellate advocacy, and courtroom preparation.

House has tried numerous lawsuits in Indiana state and federal courts and has briefed and argued appeals before the Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court, and Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. His experience also includes professional liability defense, civil litigation, general business matters, real estate, zoning, and probate. He brings additional executive and corporate counsel experience to disputes involving companies, transactions, regulation, and operational concerns.

Briane M. House has held senior legal and executive roles involving energy, utilities, public finance, regulatory compliance, human resources, and contractual matters. He worked with ProLiance Energy and Indianapolis Power & Light Company and later served as acting COO of Cleveland Energy Resources. He also served as general counsel to an Indianapolis mayoral transition team and as chairman of the Indianapolis Local Public Improvement Bond Bank Board, reflecting broad legal and civic experience.
