Brett earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami in 1994 and co-founded the university’s Pre-Legal Society. He later received his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law, participating in trial advocacy and national mock trial competitions. His legal education emphasized courtroom preparation and oral advocacy, which became central to his subsequent work handling criminal trials in county and circuit courts.

He prosecuted thousands of cases, including DUI, domestic violence, drug offenses, theft, robbery, aggravated assault, sexual battery, and juvenile matters. He has since tried hundreds of cases to verdict in county and circuit courts. His prosecution background provides direct familiarity with charging decisions, witness examination, trial strategy, and the handling of serious criminal allegations.
