Brett Fulkerson is an attorney whose practice focuses on estate planning, elder law, and special needs planning. With more than 20 years of legal experience, he helps individuals and families develop estate plans, long-term care strategies, asset protection plans, and legal solutions for loved ones with special needs. His work centers on guiding clients through important life decisions with planning tailored to their unique family circumstances and future goals.

Brett earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law. He also holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from East Tennessee State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Freed-Hardeman University. In addition, he authored the Missouri Law Review article One Step Forward, Two Steps Back: The Recognized But Undefined Federal Psychotherapist-Patient Privilege.

After serving as an associate attorney at Spencer Fane Britt & Browne, Brett became an Adjunct Professor of Law and Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law before founding Fulkerson Estate Planning & Elder Law LLC in 2005. He later expanded his practice to include elder law, with a focus on long-term care and Medicaid planning. He is licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas and is a member of the Missouri Bar Elder Law Committee, the Missouri Bar Trusts & Estates Committee, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), WealthCounsel, and ElderCounsel.

Brett Fulkerson works with clients to create estate plans, special needs plans, and long-term care strategies designed to address their legal and financial objectives. He emphasizes understanding each client’s needs before recommending appropriate planning options.
