About
Brent W. Coon is the Founder of Brent Coon & Associates and a nationally recognized trial lawyer. Raised in Southeast Texas, he developed a strong work ethic shaped by the petrochemical industry and its risks. His practice is dedicated almost exclusively to representing plaintiffs in high-stakes personal injury and mass tort litigation.
Brent earned a Bachelor of Science from Lamar University in 1984, where he was on the Dean’s List and a member of Phi Eta Sigma. He later earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 1986 and served as an Associate Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law.
Early in his career, Brent quickly established himself as a formidable trial lawyer. Within years of law school, he tried dozens of cases to verdict, often as solo counsel. He secured his first million-dollar verdict early and continued achieving major results in cases involving toxic exposure, transportation injuries, maritime law, and products liability.
Brent has obtained jury verdicts for more than 200 clients, including more than 20 exceeding $1 million. He played a key role in the largest consolidated trial in history and helped secure a verdict exceeding $1 billion. His firm has recovered billions for victims nationwide and internationally.
Brent’s achievements have earned widespread recognition. He is board-certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law and has received honors, including Trial Lawyer of the Year awards, Texas Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Clarence Darrow Award, and multiple national leadership distinctions within the trial lawyer community.
Through decades of advocacy, Brent W. Coon has built a reputation for holding corporations accountable and protecting injured individuals. His leadership, courtroom success, and commitment to justice continue to define his firm’s mission and influence mass tort and personal injury litigation across the country.
