About
Benjamin W. Spiess is a partner at Landye Bennett Blumstein LLP and a member of the firm’s real estate practice group. Based in Anchorage, he advises clients throughout the Pacific Northwest on real estate and business transactions. His practice covers entity formation and structuring, purchases and sales, development, leasing, financing, mergers, reorganizations, corporate governance, and other matters that affect ownership, investment, and long-term business planning.
Spiess earned a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 2006 and a B.A. from Middlebury College in 1994. His education, together with a corporate law background, supports a practice that regularly combines legal analysis with business structuring and real estate considerations. He is admitted in Alaska and Washington and also practices before the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Spiess has experience forming investment partnerships, development joint ventures, and real estate syndications, including private placements under Rule 506. He also advises on land use and zoning, Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act issues, and matters involving public lands. His transactional work includes equity and asset purchases, reorganizations, financing arrangements, and agreements connected to property development and ownership, giving clients support across multiple stages of a project or business transaction.
Benjamin W. Spiess is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and serves as co-chair of the Alaska Bar Association’s Real Estate Law Section. His practice also includes work connected to Arctic policy and development. By combining real estate, corporate, and financing experience, he helps clients structure transactions, address regulatory and land-use considerations, and manage legal issues that arise as investments and development projects move forward.
