About
Brent R. Cole leads an Anchorage law office serving businesses and individuals across Alaska. His practice includes civil litigation, business law, aviation, criminal defense, commercial fishing, fish and game matters, and legal work for guides and outfitters. He represents businesses and individuals in disputes, regulatory matters, contracts, licensing questions, and other issues that can require courtroom advocacy or practical advice tailored to Alaska industries.
Cole earned a B.A. in Political Science from Dartmouth College in 1981 and graduated with distinction from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento in 1985. After law school, he clerked for Alaska Superior Court Judge Seaborn J. Buckalew. His academic training and early judicial experience provided a foundation for a practice involving litigation, regulation, public policy, and complex factual records across Alaska’s business, aviation, natural resources, and fish and wildlife matters.
Cole served as an Anchorage prosecutor from 1986 to 1991, handling misdemeanors, felonies, and fish and wildlife cases. His work included prosecution connected to the Exxon Valdez matter. He later entered private practice, where his experience expanded to utility, oil and gas, insurance defense, aviation, corporate and small-business issues, and civil litigation. His clients have included oilfield businesses, Alaska Native corporations, commercial operators, guides, outfitters, and other Alaska enterprises.
Brent R. Cole has practiced in Alaska since 1986 and brings both prosecution and private-practice experience to his work. His aviation practice includes licensing, transactions, and injury-related matters, while his guide and outfitter work can involve formation, licensing, permitting, and compliance. He also remains involved with aviation and outdoor-industry organizations, reflecting a practice closely connected to the legal and regulatory needs of businesses and individuals operating across Alaska.
