Arina Filippenko

Arina Filippenko is an associate in the Anchorage office of Birch Horton Bittner & Cherot who works on litigation, corporate matters, municipal law, election law, tax issues, and criminal defense. Her practice includes business torts and commercial litigation, securities matters, federal, state, and local government issues, and white collar criminal defense. She brings a financial and regulatory background to matters involving businesses, public entities, and individuals.

Filippenko earned her J.D. summa cum laude from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2023. She served as an editor of the law review and received CALI awards during law school. She also earned B.B.A. degrees in Finance and Management from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2017, graduating magna cum laude. This combination of legal, financial, and management education supports her work on regulatory, corporate, tax, and litigation matters.

Before joining the firm, Filippenko served as a Financial Examiner with the State of Alaska Division of Banking and Securities. Her work included securities registration, audits of investment advisers, broker-dealers, and financial institutions, and enforcement investigations involving securities fraud, unregistered investment advising, consumer finance, precious metals, and cryptocurrency. She also clerked for the Honorable Peter R. Ramgren of the Alaska Superior Court in Anchorage.

Arina Filippenko was admitted to the Alaska Bar in 2023 and to the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska in 2024. She participates in professional organizations including the Alaska Bar Association, Anchorage Bar Association, Alaska Association for Women Lawyers, and National Association of Bond Lawyers. Her background allows her to approach disputes and regulatory questions with attention to both legal requirements and the financial issues that often shape a client’s practical options.
