Anna R. Yum

Anna R. Yum is a San Diego criminal defense attorney who represents individuals facing charges in California state and federal courts. Licensed in California and Illinois, she handles serious felonies involving sexual assault, violent crimes, and gang enhancements, as well as DUI charges and other misdemeanors. Her approach combines clear communication, strategic advocacy, and extensive courtroom experience to protect clients’ rights at each stage of a criminal case.

Yum earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she participated in the nationally recognized Mock Trial team and completed a judicial externship with Senior U.S. District Judge Robert M. Takasugi. She was inducted into the Order of Barristers and received an American Board of Trial Advocates Award for oral advocacy. She also earned a B.S. in Communication Studies and International Studies from Northwestern University.

Before entering private practice, Yum served as a Riverside County deputy district attorney and prosecuted complex cases involving sexual assault, domestic violence, gangs, child molestation, drug sales, robbery, gun enhancements, attempted murder, and first-degree murder. She has tried numerous jury and bench trials to verdict as both a prosecutor and defense attorney. Her practice also includes selected civil litigation matters involving personal injury and employment discrimination.

Anna R. Yum is frequently invited to provide legal analysis for television, radio, and other media outlets, and she speaks and presents continuing legal education programs on criminal law topics, including domestic violence. She is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, Enright Inn of Court, Criminal Defense Bar Association of San Diego, Korean-American Bar Association of San Diego, and Illinois State Bar Association.
