Mark M. O’Mara

Mark M. O’Mara is an Orlando trial lawyer and the founder and lead attorney at O’Mara Law Group, with extensive experience in criminal defense, family law, mediation, and complex litigation. He represents clients in serious criminal cases, divorce and custody disputes, and matters requiring sophisticated courtroom strategy. He has practiced in state and federal courts along the eastern seaboard and has served as co-counsel nationally. His work also includes trial consulting for cases involving complicated legal issues and intense publicity nationwide.

Mark earned his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 1982 and his B.A. in Pre-Law Political Science, with honors, from the University of Central Florida in 1979. He began his career as a prosecutor in Seminole County before moving into criminal defense. He is board certified in Criminal Trial Law and Marital and Family Law, and he is certified in collaborative law and several professional mediation roles.

Mark has handled high-profile matters requiring careful evidence analysis, courtroom advocacy, and media management. He led the defense of George Zimmerman and later became a CNN legal analyst. He also serves as co-counsel and trial consultant when other lawyers need assistance with demanding criminal or family cases. He has taught classes and seminars for law schools, bar groups, criminal defense organizations, family law programs, and professional associations across the country.

Mark M. O’Mara has received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and recognition from national trial lawyer organizations.
