Andrew S. Kerns is a seasoned family law attorney known for his courtroom experience and client-focused approach. With over 50 first-chair trials and hundreds of court appearances across Texas and California, he brings strategic insight to a wide range of family law matters. His practice includes divorce, paternity, protective orders, juvenile dependency, and probate.
Kerns began his legal journey after graduating cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Italian Studies. He pursued his Juris Doctor at Baylor University School of Law, graduating in the top 10% of his class with cum laude honors. At Baylor, he was an associate editor of the Baylor Law Review and contributed a scholarly article to the Spring 2011 edition.
After earning his Juris Doctor, Kerns served as a federal judicial extern for U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Manske in the Western District of Texas. He then practiced civil litigation at a Fort Worth law firm before moving to Los Angeles, where he developed deep expertise in family law over seven years. His clients have included business professionals, public figures, and everyday families.
Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Kerns is recognized for his advocacy and commitment to effective legal solutions. His selection as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Family Law in Southern California (2020) and Texas (2021–2024) reflects his dedication and reputation in the field.
