Andrew H. Sherman is Chair of the Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy Reorganization Practice Group. With decades of experience, he represents clients in business reorganizations, insolvency cases, and debt restructurings across the United States. His practice includes advising companies in financial distress, representing lenders in financings, and guiding investment firms in distressed acquisitions. He has also litigated significant commercial cases in both New York and New Jersey state and federal courts.
Mr. Sherman earned his A.B. from Cornell University before completing his J.D. at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University. His academic achievements prepared him to navigate the complex intersections of bankruptcy law, restructuring, and litigation. This strong educational foundation continues to influence his ability to craft effective strategies for clients, whether they are debtors, creditors, or stakeholders in large-scale financial reorganizations.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Sherman has represented parties in some of the nation’s most significant Chapter 11 cases. He has guided the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in more than two dozen hospital and healthcare bankruptcies, including Hahnemann University Hospital and Saint Michael’s Medical Center. His experience also includes high-profile matters such as Motor Coach Industries International and Marcal Paper Mills. Clients rely on his insight when facing restructurings involving both corporate and healthcare organizations.
