Andrea Joy Campbell serves as the Attorney General of Massachusetts, where she leads with a mission to promote equity, accountability, and justice for all residents. A lifelong advocate for fairness and opportunity, she works to address systemic inequities through community-driven policies that strengthen access to justice and uphold the rights of the people across the Commonwealth.
Andrea Campbell completed her Bachelor’s from Princeton University and her J.D. from UCLA School of Law. Her education provided the foundation for a career focused on protecting vulnerable populations and expanding equal access to resources. Before entering public service, she practiced employment law at Proskauer LLP and later served as General Counsel at the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, advising on issues related to affordable housing, transportation, and environmental sustainability.
Prior to becoming Attorney General, Campbell served as legal counsel to Governor Deval Patrick, where she advanced policies to improve education, public transit, and economic equality. She also worked for the EdLaw Project, where she represented children with disabilities, ensuring they received fair educational opportunities. Her dedication to justice led her to run for the Boston City Council in 2015, where she became the first woman to represent District 4 and later the first Black woman elected City Council President.
As Attorney General, Andrea Joy Campbell continues to advance landmark initiatives in civil rights, criminal justice reform, and consumer protection. Her leadership reflects a lifelong commitment to service, equality, and the belief that government can be a powerful force for good when guided by compassion, integrity, and an unwavering dedication to justice.
