About
Allyson Cunningham is a partner at Lathrop GPM whose practice focuses on environmental, toxic tort, and crisis-related litigation. She represents companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500 businesses in high-stakes disputes and regulatory matters, combining litigation with environmental counseling, crisis response, communications, and public-affairs strategy. Allyson handles matters involving environmental liability, class actions, mass torts, insurance coverage, and emerging contaminants, helping clients assess legal exposure while responding to government, community, and commercial pressures.
Allyson earned a J.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 2012, graduating magna cum laude, after receiving a B.A. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2009, summa cum laude. Her academic background supports a practice that requires detailed statutory interpretation, scientific and technical evidence, regulatory analysis, and litigation strategy. That training helps her address complex environmental disputes involving multiple parties, overlapping legal regimes, significant records, and long-term operational consequences.
Allyson advises and defends clients on issues involving the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA and Superfund, RCRA, PFAS, odor nuisance claims, environmental compliance, toxic torts, and insurance recovery. Her experience includes defending class actions and mass-tort matters, handling disputes involving contaminated property and consumer products, and helping clients respond to developing regulatory requirements. She also works on crisis situations where litigation, regulatory concerns, communications, and business continuity must be managed together.
Allyson Cunningham has been recognized by Chambers USA for environmental law in Missouri and has appeared on Missouri Lawyers Media’s POWER List for environmental and energy law. She was named to Ingram’s 40 Under Forty in 2025. Allyson combines environmental regulatory knowledge with litigation and crisis-management experience, helping clients address complex contamination, PFAS, insurance, class-action, and toxic-tort matters while keeping legal strategy connected to operational and reputational concerns.
