Allen M. Dodd

Allen M. Dodd is a partner and lead attorney at Dodd & Dodd Attorneys, PLLC, a Louisville firm established in 1869. His practice focuses primarily on family law and tax matters. He handles divorce, high-asset property division, child custody, relocation disputes, maintenance, premarital agreements, postnuptial agreements, adoption, and grandparents’ rights. His tax practice includes audits, estate and income tax planning, and disputes involving individuals, businesses, and tax return preparers.

Allen earned a B.A. in Philosophy and History, summa cum laude, from the University of Kentucky. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and received departmental honors and other academic recognition. He received his J.D. with honors from the University of Louisville School of Law. During law school, he earned Dean’s List recognition and participated on the Tax Moot Court Team and Honor Council. He later earned an LL.M. in Taxation from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.

Allen represents clients in complex family disputes involving closely held businesses, family limited partnerships, substantial assets, and high-conflict custody issues. He has represented taxpayers before the U.S. Tax Court, Internal Revenue Service, and Kentucky Revenue Cabinet. He co-authored Kentucky Domestic Relations Practice and has presented family law seminars for bar associations and the University of Kentucky College of Law. His leadership includes past chair positions with family law sections of the Kentucky and Louisville bar associations.

Allen M. Dodd is admitted in Kentucky, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, and the U.S. Tax Court. His memberships include the American Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, and Louisville Bar Association. Louisville Magazine has recognized him among its top attorneys. His practice combines family law experience with tax knowledge when divorce, property division, business ownership, and financial decisions create overlapping legal concerns.
