Alfredo Parrish is the founding partner of Parrish Kruidenier Law Firm and one of Iowa’s most accomplished litigators. With a career spanning more than fifty years, he has represented clients in personal injury, wrongful death, criminal defense, civil rights, employment, labor law, and appellate matters. Known for his skill in the courtroom, Parrish has handled over 200 jury trials, including more than 30 first-degree murder cases, earning respect as a formidable trial lawyer with a strong record of success.
Parrish earned his A.A. from Warren Wilson College in 1965, his B.A. from the University of Dubuque in 1967, and his J.D. from the University of Iowa in 1970. Admitted to practice in Iowa in 1971, his admissions also include multiple federal district courts, several U.S. Courts of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States. His broad admissions reflect his ability to represent clients across a wide range of jurisdictions and legal challenges.
A notable part of Parrish’s career includes litigating several groundbreaking cases. He argued before the United States Supreme Court, handled Iowa’s first death penalty case in 40 years, and tried the nation’s first federal “three strikes” case. He has also successfully argued nearly 200 appeals, shaping important areas of Iowa and federal law. His appellate advocacy, combined with trial experience, demonstrates his versatility and commitment to defending constitutional rights and delivering justice for his clients.
Beyond the courtroom, Alfredo Parrish contributes significantly to the legal community and civic life. He serves on boards, legal foundations, and bar associations, while also publishing influential works on racial disparity and legal rights. A frequent lecturer and author, he shares his expertise nationally.
