Alexander F. Porter

Alexander F. Porter is a partner focusing on commercial litigation and white-collar defense, including investigations and government controversies. With more than fifteen years of experience, he has built a reputation for handling high-stakes cases and protecting clients across industries through skillful trial advocacy and strategic negotiations.

Alex earned his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of San Francisco in 2003, graduating summa cum laude as valedictorian of the College of Arts and Sciences. He later received his J.D. from USC Gould School of Law in 2008, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as Senior Content Editor of the Southern California Law Review.

Alex began his career as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Stephen V. Wilson in the U.S. District Court, Central District of California. He then joined the Department of Justice, serving as a trial attorney in the Fraud Section before spending eight years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles, where he became Health Care Fraud Coordinator for the Central District of California.

Alex has represented clients in criminal and civil investigations, securities class actions, and domestic and international arbitrations. He has defended individuals and corporations facing allegations of securities fraud, insider trading, healthcare fraud, kickbacks, and bribery. His work also includes guiding companies through internal reviews and responses to federal and state enforcement inquiries.

Alex has secured significant victories, including declinations of charges in insider trading and healthcare fraud matters, dismissals of False Claims Act cases, and favorable resolutions of parallel civil and criminal investigations. His recognition by Best Lawyers for white-collar defense underscores his strong record of results.
