About
Alex Berger is an experienced bankruptcy attorney based in Gillette, Wyoming, where he focuses on helping clients find financial relief through Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 filings. He began his legal career working in trial litigation with an emphasis on oil and gas disputes, representing both individuals and businesses. Over the years, he has built a practice dedicated to guiding people through the challenges of debt, using bankruptcy law to provide a fresh financial start.
Mr. Berger earned his B.S. degrees in History and Philosophy, with honors, from Illinois State University, before completing his J.D., magna cum laude, at Indiana University School of Law. During law school, he was President of the Moot Court Society, Executive Production Editor of the Indiana Health Law Review, and a coach for the college policy debate team. He also clerked for both a criminal law professor and a criminal defense attorney, gaining early trial and research experience.
After law school, Mr. Berger practiced litigation in Iowa and joined the RT Cox Law Firm in Gillette in 2014. In 2016, he founded his own firm, focusing on bankruptcy and family law under the mentorship of veteran attorneys. In 2018, he was elected Weston County Attorney, prosecuting criminal cases and advising on civil matters while continuing his bankruptcy practice. He has also provided investigative services for state licensing boards, reflecting the breadth of his legal experience.
In addition to client work, Alex Berger is active in professional and community service. He chairs the Bankruptcy and Creditor’s Rights Section in Wyoming, serves on the board of Wyoming Legal Aid, and volunteers with local public defender services. He is admitted to practice in multiple state and federal courts, including Wyoming, Michigan, Iowa, and North Dakota, and is dedicated to helping individuals navigate financial hardship with knowledge and compassion.
