Alex Atkinson

Alex Atkinson is a litigation attorney based in Sumter, South Carolina, whose practice focuses on civil rights litigation, general litigation, medical malpractice defense, and Tort Claims Act matters. Since joining the firm in 2019, he has represented clients in complex disputes that require careful legal analysis, strategic preparation, and a clear understanding of both procedural and substantive law.

Alex earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Ethics from Wofford College in 2014. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2018. Prior to entering private practice, Alex served as a law clerk to the Honorable R. Ferrell Cothran, Chief Administrative Judge for the Third Circuit. Before attending law school, Alex worked as a certified Community Health Worker for a primary care physician in Kingstree, South Carolina. He assisted physicians and supported patients managing complex medical conditions, an experience that enhanced his understanding of healthcare systems and patient care issues that often arise in medical malpractice and civil rights cases.

Alex Atkinson is admitted to practice law in South Carolina and before the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is an active member of the South Carolina Bar and the Sumter County Bar.
