About

Addison Chappell is an associate at Miles & Stockbridge in Baltimore, Maryland. He assists clients with commercial litigation and all aspects of bankruptcy cases. His practice also involves creditors’ rights, banking and finance, asset-based lending, commercial finance, and transactions connected to real estate and lending. Addison works with clients in the finance, capital markets, and real estate sectors, helping them address disputes, financial obligations, and bankruptcy-related issues with careful legal analysis and practical guidance.

Addison earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2020 and his B.S. in business administration from Baylor University in 2016. During law school, he served as a staff attorney in the Consumer Bankruptcy Clinic, where he gained direct experience assisting individuals with bankruptcy matters. His business education and clinical legal training provide a strong foundation for evaluating financial disputes, understanding commercial concerns, and developing practical strategies for clients navigating litigation or insolvency proceedings.

Before joining Miles & Stockbridge, Addison clerked for the Honorable Maria Ellena Chavez-Ruark of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland. That experience gave him insight into federal bankruptcy procedure, judicial decision-making, case administration, and the legal issues that arise between debtors and creditors. He applies this background when assisting with bankruptcy cases, creditors’ rights matters, commercial disputes, lending issues, and other proceedings involving financial distress or contested obligations.

Addison Chappell is admitted to practice in Maryland, Texas, and the District of Columbia. He is also admitted before federal district and bankruptcy courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. His professional affiliations include the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, Turnaround Management Association, and the Congressman Walter Chandler American Inn of Court. Addison combines bankruptcy knowledge, commercial awareness, and practical judgment to support clients facing complex financial and litigation matters.
