About
Zachary Hiller is a Houston attorney and mediator whose practice focuses on intellectual property and commercial transactions. He assists corporations and start-up businesses with developing strategies to protect and commercialize patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and other valuable assets. His services also include licensing and technology transfers, business formations and transactions, contract drafting and negotiation, and disputes involving cyberjacking or domain hijacking.
Hiller earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2010 and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. During law school, he served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Wesley Steen in the Southern District of Texas and the late Honorable Fred Edwards of the 9th District Court in Montgomery County. These roles gave him practical insight into judicial decision-making and court procedures.
Hiller’s practice emphasizes litigation avoidance and careful preparation. He approaches legal issues with the expectation that they may ultimately reach a jury, allowing him to position clients strategically for possible disputes. This approach has helped him resolve conflicts and secure favorable settlements outside the courtroom. When litigation is necessary, he draws on his experience representing clients in intellectual property disputes and protecting their commercial interests.
Zachary Hiller received the Spring 2009 Taylor Writing Award for an article examining international intellectual property rights, which was published in Currents: International Trade Law Journal. He also earned a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Intellectual Property Litigation. His professional recognition includes selection to Texas Rising Stars from 2019 through 2024, Houstonia Magazine’s Top Lawyers in intellectual property from 2016 through 2021, and the 2014 Avvo Clients’ Choice Award.
