Z. Gillerra

Z. Gillerra is the founder of Gillerra Law, LLC, where her practice focuses on probate, estate planning, elder law, guardianships, conservatorships, and estate administration. She works with individuals and families to navigate estate planning, probate proceedings, and legal matters involving vulnerable adults and minors. Her practice includes drafting legal documents, representing clients in court, and serving as Guardian ad Litem in guardianship and conservatorship cases. She also provides virtual legal services to improve accessibility for clients.

Gillerra earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas. She later completed a Ph.D. in Communication Studies at the University of Kansas, defending her dissertation with honors in 2009. She is also an alumna of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s Ross T. Roberts Trial Academy. Her academic work includes peer-reviewed publications in communication and the arts, and she continues legal research on wealth transfer and Black families.

Gillerra founded Gillerra Law, LLC after a career that combined legal practice, teaching, and academic research. She has taught communication courses at the University of Kansas, the University of Missouri–Kansas City, and Washburn University, as well as business law for Becker Professional Education. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Missouri Bar Association, where she serves on multiple committees.

Z. Gillerra helps clients develop estate plans, administer estates, and resolve probate, guardianship, conservatorship, and elder law matters with practical guidance and compassionate representation. She also conducts legal workshops on healthcare planning and provides pro bono legal services to underserved individuals. Her practice emphasizes accessibility, clear communication, and personalized legal solutions for families planning for the future or managing complex legal transitions.
