William W. Erhart has devoted his career to estate and elder law, serving as a Certified Elder Law Attorney recognized for his depth of knowledge and client-focused approach. His practice covers Medicaid planning, veterans’ benefits, probate, trust-based planning, family trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and the administration of special needs trusts.

Bill’s academic path began with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Divinity degree from the Reformed Episcopal Seminary in 1979 and later completed his Juris Doctor at Rutgers University in 1982. That same year, he gained admission to the Delaware Bar, formally beginning his legal career.

Bill’s early experience included a clerkship with the Delaware Superior Court followed by five years as a Deputy Attorney General with the Delaware Department of Justice, where he served in both the Civil and Criminal Divisions. Transitioning into private practice, he has since assisted thousands of individuals and families, ensuring they receive strong guidance on protecting assets and preparing for long-term care needs.

Bill’s work has earned significant professional recognition. He holds the AV® Distinguished™ Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell® and has repeatedly been named among Delaware’s Top Elder Law Attorneys. He is also noted as the only Elder Law “Super Lawyer” in Delaware by peers and has been acknowledged by Delaware Today Magazine for his contributions to estate, probate, and trust law.

Bill is active in many professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, Delaware State Bar Association, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, National Elder Law Foundation, and the Estate Planning Council of Delaware. He also participates in Elder Counsel, Wealth Counsel, and the St. Thomas More Society, reflecting his strong commitment to his field.
