About

William P. Schwartz is Of Counsel at Parsons Behle & Latimer in Jackson, Wyoming, where he handles business and commercial litigation, real estate matters, real estate litigation, and appeals. He represents plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil disputes and counsels individuals and organizations on difficult legal and business issues. His practice reflects decades of courtroom work, negotiation, and problem solving. He also has significant real estate transactional experience and is available to mediate selected disputes after completing intensive conflict-resolution training.

Schwartz graduated from Stanford University with an A.B. and departmental honors in 1979 and earned his law degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1983. In law school, he served as an associate editor of the Wyoming Law Review and as a legal-writing instructor. After graduation, he clerked for the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. That academic and appellate background supports a practice involving complex briefing, litigation strategy, real estate disputes, and appeals.

Schwartz began practicing in Wyoming in 1990 after working as an associate and shareholder with a Salt Lake City firm focused on complex commercial litigation. He founded Ranck & Schwartz, LLC in Jackson and managed that firm until joining Parsons in January 2024. His work has included business, real estate, family, and constitutional disputes, along with nonprofit counseling. Recent experience includes successful defense of multimillion-dollar promissory-estoppel claims through summary judgment and a 2026 affirmance by the Tenth Circuit.

William P. Schwartz combines litigation, appellate, transactional, and mediation experience with long-standing service to Wyoming organizations. He is a member of the American Law Institute and a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers, and he has received the Wyoming State Bar Public Service Award. His professional work is grounded in practical counseling and dispute resolution, whether the matter calls for litigation, appeal, negotiation, a real estate transaction, or structured mediation. He remains licensed in Wyoming and maintains additional federal court admissions.
