William M. Barnwell

William M. Barnwell is the founder of Barnwell Law, PLLC, where he provides criminal defense representation to clients throughout Michigan and Florida. His practice focuses exclusively on criminal law, including serious felony charges, misdemeanors, and federal offenses. He is known for hands-on representation, trial readiness, and a strong record of dismissals, acquittals, and favorable outcomes.

William earned his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2015, graduating cum laude. During law school, he participated in the National Mock Trial Team and National Moot Court and was named to the Dean’s List. He also holds advanced graduate degrees from Bethel University, including a Master of Theology and a Master of Ministry, both summa cum laude, as well as a degree in Social Science.

William represents clients facing a wide range of criminal matters, including homicide, sex crimes, domestic violence, assault and battery, drug offenses, DUI/OWI, white-collar crimes, fraud, gun and weapons charges, and federal criminal cases. He regularly appears in courts across both states and is experienced in defending cases at every stage of the criminal justice process.

William is admitted to practice law in Michigan, Florida, and the Eastern Federal District. William is a member of the Michigan State Bar, Florida State Bar, Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan, and the Macomb County Bar Association, and serves as a Director with YLS.
