About
William Kirby is a family law attorney with offices in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Mount Laurel, New Jersey. He represents clients in divorce, child custody, support, and related family law matters. With more than two decades of legal experience, Kirby guides individuals through difficult personal transitions with focused advocacy and practical advice. His approach combines careful case preparation, courtroom skill, compassion, and determination.
Kirby earned his Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law after completing a bachelor’s degree in economics at the U.S. Naval Academy. At the academy, he was recognized as the Marine Corps Honor Graduate. His education developed a strong foundation in legal analysis, discipline, and strategic problem-solving. Before focusing on private family law practice, Kirby served as a Marine Corps officer and Judge Advocate. His military legal career included leadership within the military justice system, oversight of appellate matters before the Navy and Marine Corps’ highest courts, and management of significant litigation connected to the September 11 trials. He later established and led a family law group at a national legal practice, strengthening his ability to handle complex disputes and sensitive client concerns.
William Kirby also contributes to the Greater Philadelphia legal community through professional leadership and public service. He serves as president of the Nicholas Cipriani American Inn of Court, co-chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Solo and Small Firm Management Committee, and a Master Member of the Thomas Forkin American Inn of Court.
