William K. Skelton brings decades of experience helping individuals and businesses navigate real estate, elder law, and corporate matters. His work includes guiding clients through purchases, sales, lending issues, title questions, and long-term care planning. He approaches each matter with clarity and a practical understanding developed over many years in the field.
William earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Maine in Orono and later completed his J.D. at the Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire. During law school, he served as a teaching assistant in real property law, mediation, and conflict resolution, further strengthening the foundation for his future focus.
William spent many years concentrating on title law, advising buyers, sellers, and lenders on commercial and residential transactions. His background includes nearly two decades as legal counsel for Androscoggin Title Company, where he worked on conveyancing and lending matters. He also served as Vice President and Alternate State Counsel for Fidelity National Title Group, working with agents across Maine and New Hampshire on insurability issues and regulatory compliance.
William continues to assist clients with real estate and title matters, ranging from commercial loan documentation to foreclosure and workout transactions. His elder law practice centers on helping seniors and their families understand wills, trusts, estates, and long-term care planning. As a member of ElderCounsel and the Elder Law Section of the Bar, he provides informed guidance with attention to each client’s situation.
William K. Skelton has additionally been recognized by Best Lawyers® for his work in corporate law and real estate law. William also advises businesses in areas such as formation, financing, leasing, land use, and daily operational concerns. He is admitted to practice in all Maine state and federal courts and is active in the American, Maine State, and Androscoggin County Bar Associations.
