About
William J. Lightfoot is the founding attorney of Lightfoot Law, PLLC, where he represents clients in personal injury and workers’ compensation matters across Washington, D.C. Since his admission to the D.C. Bar in 2017, Mr. Lightfoot has concentrated on civil litigation, particularly tort-based claims including construction accidents, medical malpractice, car crashes, and premises liability.
William earned his Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School in 2017. While in law school, he worked in Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Office of Legal Counsel, contributing to legislative drafting. He also gained early trial experience as a clerk for a plaintiff’s personal injury firm. William completed his undergraduate degree magna cum laude at East Carolina University with honors in political science.
William joined a D.C. firm following law school before co-founding Lightfoot Law, PLLC in 2019. He advocates for plaintiffs in contingency-based injury and workers’ compensation cases, providing aggressive representation and strategic litigation. His focus is on securing fair compensation and justice for those harmed by negligence or unsafe working conditions.
The legal community has recognized William with several distinctions. He received the Martindale-Hubbell Client Champion Award (Platinum) for client service, was named one of the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and was selected as one of the country’s Top 25 Workers’ Compensation Trial Lawyers. He also serves as Co-Chair of the New Lawyers Division of the D.C. Trial Lawyers Association.
