William A. Beluzo, Jr. is a Michigan attorney with more than 30 years of experience in personal service law. His practice focuses on probate and estate planning, trusts, wills, estate and trust administration, probate and trust litigation, tax law, wealth strategy, asset protection, and family and elder law. He designs and implements tax and wealth strategies for individuals, estates, and trusts. He also prepares pre-marital and post-marital agreements and represents clients with substantial marital estates.
William earned a B.A. from Wayne State University in 1968, followed by a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in 1970 and an L.L.M. in Taxation from the same law school in 1984. His education in law and taxation supports his work on estate planning, tax concerns, trust administration, and wealth preservation. He was admitted to practice in Michigan in 1971 and previously worked as an estate and gift tax attorney for the Internal Revenue Service.
William has handled significant tax, probate, and trust matters. He represented a taxpayer in an IRS estate tax audit involving more than $1 million in taxes, interest, and penalties, helping secure an $800,000 tax savings. He also obtained a refund for a taxpayer appealing another estate tax audit and secured dismissal with prejudice of a petition seeking to remove a trustee. His experience includes undue influence claims, post-death tax planning, beneficiary-controlled trusts, special needs trusts, and marital estate protection.
William A. Beluzo, Jr. earned the Board Certified in Estate Planning designation from the Institute of Business & Finance in 2010. His professional affiliations include the American Bar Association’s Probate and Trust Law Section, the State Bar of Michigan’s Probate and Trust Law Section, and the Oakland County Bar Association’s Probate and Trust Committee. He has also lectured for CPAs, financial planners, physicians, elders, and community groups, sharing practical guidance on estate, tax, and wealth-planning issues.
