Wanda J. Abel

Wanda J. Abel is a corporate and securities attorney who advises clients on public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions, financings, and joint ventures. She works with complex commercial agreements and provides guidance on securities disclosure, compliance, and general business law matters across many industries.

Wanda earned a J.D. from the University of Colorado, Order of the Coif, in 1985. She also holds an M.L.S., Beta Phi Mu, from Indiana University, earned in 1980, and a B.A., High Distinction, Phi Beta Kappa, from Indiana University, completed in 1979.

Wanda has served as in-house counsel for an NYSE-listed company and acts as outside general counsel for many clients. She advises boards of directors and special committees on governance and fiduciary duties, helping organizations manage risk and meet legal and regulatory responsibilities effectively.

Wanda’s intellectual property practice focuses on technology transfer, licensing, trademark and copyright registration, and software agreements. She works with start-ups and established companies in biotechnology, water, agriculture, oil and gas, software, and communications, providing practical legal solutions tailored to each client’s needs.

Wanda also advises nonprofit corporations on governance, international affiliates, and intellectual property protection. She supports licensing strategies and helps organizations manage both business and legal matters. Her community work includes volunteering for the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation and supporting local school and youth programs.

Wanda J. Abel received the Cathy Stricklin Krendl Business Lawyer Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019 from the Colorado Bar Association. She is listed in Marquis Who’s Who® and holds an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell. She also serves on the board of Pure Cycle Corporation.
