About
Travis Helm is an immigration attorney and the founder of a Laramie, Wyoming law office focused on immigration matters. His firm represents clients in family-based, employment-based, and humanitarian immigration matters, as well as removal defense and naturalization. He also analyzes immigration consequences connected to criminal convictions through his crimmigration work. His practice is focused on helping immigrants and families understand a complex federal system and pursue available immigration options.
Travis received a B.A. in American Studies from the University of Wyoming and completed the Scandinavian Area Studies program at the University of Southern Denmark. He later graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law. While in law school, he worked as a student attorney in the Defender Aid Clinic and International Human Rights Clinic, gaining direct experience with criminal defense, human rights, asylum, and immigrant advocacy.
Helm’s clinic work included representing clients seeking asylum and contributing to efforts that led Wyoming to allow DACA recipients to obtain driver’s licenses. After law school, he opened his own immigration practice to address the need for immigration representation in Wyoming. His work now includes family and employment immigration, humanitarian matters, removal defense, naturalization, and counseling on the immigration effects of criminal cases.
Travis Helm is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and has served on its Colorado Chapter Media Relations and Legislative Outreach Committees. He has traveled to Washington, DC, to meet with lawmakers on immigration issues and has presented on immigration and crimmigration topics to legal and governmental audiences. He also volunteers as a pro bono attorney with the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network.
