Torrey Johnson-Hochanadel

Torrey Johnson-Hochanadel is a trial attorney in Portner & Shure’s Central Virginia office in Richmond. He was licensed by the State Bar of Virginia in 2019. He serves as a criminal defense attorney and appears in General District, Circuit, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts throughout Virginia.

Torrey graduated cum laude from Western Michigan University’s Thomas Cooley School of Law. He also earned a Master of Science in Gerontology from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Fontbonne University in St. Louis.

Torrey has been with Portner & Shure for two years, where he handles criminal defense matters. Before joining the firm, he worked for three years as a trial attorney with Christina Pendleton & Associates in Richmond, serving clients in criminal defense and traffic cases.

Torrey was a finalist in the Mock Trial First Year Competition while attending Cooley. He was also active in the Student Bar Association and the volunteer program. These roles gave him early courtroom, leadership, and service experience before he began practicing law in Virginia.

Torrey also worked as an advocate and coordinator for senior programs in St. Louis before starting his law career. He was heavily involved in leading community organizations there, giving him a strong background in service, advocacy, and working with people in need.
