Tom Olsen

Tom Olsen is a seasoned criminal defense attorney in Nebraska, known for his work in defending high-stakes felony, drug, and DUI cases. With over three decades of experience, he has handled thousands of cases ranging from first-degree murder to major narcotics trafficking and DUI offenses.

Tom earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1985. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 1988, graduating magna cum laude and ranking 16th in a class of 270. He was honored by order of the Coif and The Justinian Honorary Law Society and excelled academically in Trial Advocacy and Constitutional Law.

Tom began his career in New York with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, one of Wall Street’s top firms, where he worked on major fraud litigation and white collar crime cases. In 1999, he returned to Nebraska to serve as Assistant Attorney General, where he prosecuted violent crimes, drug offenses, and homicides across the state.

Tom later became an Assistant City Prosecutor for Omaha, handling thousands of cases annually, including DUI, sex offenses, and weapons charges. This prosecutorial background sharpened his trial skills and deepened his insight into the criminal justice system from both sides of the courtroom.

Since 2004, Tom has focused exclusively on criminal defense. He is widely regarded as one of the most skilled defense attorneys in the Omaha region, representing clients in high-profile trials involving charges such as murder, robbery, arson, and sexual assault. He also stands out as a premier DUI defense lawyer, defending hundreds of clients each year facing misdemeanor or felony DUI allegations.
