Tom Merriman

Tom Merriman, Esq. is a nationally recognized civil litigator with decades of experience representing individuals in personal injury and wrongful death cases. Tom began his academic journey by earning his Bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He later obtained his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, graduating cum laude. At Harvard, he earned A+ grades in both Negotiation and Jurisprudence and served as a teaching assistant to noted negotiation expert Professor Roger Fisher.

Following law school, Tom clerked for Chief Judge Frank J. Battisti of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio. He then joined Hahn Loeser & Parks as a litigator before being named managing attorney for the Ohio Attorney General’s Cleveland office at age 29. He was later promoted to deputy attorney general, where he led initiatives like the Consumer Fraud Strike Force and Operation Crackdown, protecting vulnerable Ohioans from fraud and crime.

Tom later shifted to investigative journalism, earning 37 Emmy Awards during his 14-year career in Cleveland television. His reporting exposed fraud in public institutions, terrorist ties, and government waste, earning prestigious national honors including the I.R.E. Medal and the duPont–Columbia Silver Baton. His work often led to real-world consequences, including prosecutions, policy reforms, and leadership resignations.

In 2009, Tom Merriman returned to full-time legal practice, bringing with him unmatched investigative skills and a deep sense of purpose. He has built a strong reputation for handling personal injury claims, including high-profile cases involving the loss of fertility center embryos. Tom continues to be a trusted voice in both law and media, serving as a legal analyst and Emmy-winning segment host.
