Tom Harrington

Tom Harrington is a Partner in the Missoula office whose practice focuses primarily on workers’ compensation defense and civil litigation. He represents clients in workers’ compensation claims involving workplace injuries, long-term disability, and occupational diseases. His broader litigation experience includes insurance litigation, personal injury, professional negligence, and bad faith matters. He works closely with adjusters and insurers to evaluate claims, manage risk, and develop strategies for resolving disputes both in and out of court.

Tom earned a J.D. from the University of Montana School of Law in 2000 and a B.A. with honors in Cellular & Molecular Biology from the University of Montana in 1997. His science background helps him analyze medical evidence and terminology that frequently arise in workers’ compensation and injury-related cases. During law school, he also served as an editor of the Montana Law Review, strengthening the research, writing, and analytical skills that support his litigation practice.

Tom began his legal career with Garlington, Lohn & Robinson, where he handled personal injury, professional negligence, insurance litigation, bad faith, and workers’ compensation matters. He later worked in orthopedic sales and as a licensed realtor, gaining additional experience in negotiation, client relations, medical issues, and real estate. He returned to law in 2018 as a partner at Crowley Fleck, defending civil litigation and workers’ compensation cases before joining Laird Cowley in 2024.

Tom Harrington is admitted in Montana, the US District Court for the District of Montana, and the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. His professional memberships include the Montana Bar Association, Missoula Organization of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors. He has also served on the boards of United Way and Child Care Resources. His practice combines litigation experience, scientific training, negotiation skills, and practical knowledge of medical issues to defend employers and insurers in complex workers’ compensation and civil disputes.
